New Mexico TeachersOur Golden Apple Community
The Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico originated in 1994, named the first class of Fellows in 1996, and has evolved as an organization to meet the needs of the rapidly changing world of education. The Golden Apple Academy, a community of awarded New Mexico Teacher Fellows and Teachers of Distinction, is committed to improving New Mexico education using their collective teaching expertise and experience in all grade levels and subject matter.
Golden Apple Fellows are representative of classrooms across New Mexico: the spectrum of grade levels, subject matter, and ability levels.
These New Mexico teachers are recognized for their educator excellence and their willingness to do more, become more and create more to benefit education in New Mexico.
The Academy is an organization of active Fellows who work with the Golden Apple Foundation to establish programming to elevate education in New Mexico by:
- Creating blog entries
- Participating in educator “think tanks”
- Authoring mentor curriculum
- Providing mentoring to college student-teachers
- Providing staffing for a variety of workshops and institutes as professional development for teachers
The collective minds of the Academy members, provided with varied skillsets and teacher-representation, have the potential to create a path forward for classrooms scattered in all reaches of our state.
